Your Contribution Funds A Travel Revolution

Since 1955 Hostelling International MN has served our community, our members, and all who aspire to travel by offering affordable hostelling experiences, recreational opportunities and educational programs which give people the tools and the means to travel the world and to become global citizens.

To continue our work we have partnered with our national organization, Hostelling International USA, in the Campaign for Hostelling, which seeks to raise $3 million nationally over three years benefiting local councils and meeting national hostelling goals. As part of the Campaign for Hostelling, the Minnesota Council’s goal is to raise $30,000 to help us continue serving our community in the following ways:

Improving Lives One Pedal Stroke At A Time

Our bike events change lives. Anyone who has cycled the last 10 miles of a 100 mile ride in freezing drizzle and battering headwinds knows that they will be a better person for it afterwards. Over the past 45 years, our bike events have given more than 100,000 people a reason to pull the bike down from the rafters each spring.

With your help, we aim to make the Minnesota Ironman Bicycle Ride one of the top 10 bike rides in the nation, and to continue to promote cycling and outdoor recreation through new events such as the Tour De Pines Bike Tour in Itasca State Park.

Developing A Toolbox For Global Citizens

Everyone benefits from travel. We say to every young traveler who stops by our office for a rail pass or a hostelling membership card, “Welcome to the global community. Today your life will change forever!” We offer travel education programs such as Traveler’s Circles, World Travel 101, Women’s Travel and Green Travel, to give people the tools to travel the world.

With your help, we aim to continually develop the scope and the reach of our programming to better equip Americans to travel internationally and to view themselves as part of a global community.

Providing A Network For Travelers

Hostelling is a way of seeing the world. Our hostel network, spanning over 90 countries worldwide, offers an affordable accommodation option for people of all ages and means to meet and engage with one another. Hostels bring the people of the world together.

With your help, we aim to improve the quality of our hostels and the reach of our network – starting with our Mississippi Headwaters Hostel in Itasca State Park – and make hostels a recognizable brand and viable accommodation option for all.
