Volunteer With HI-MN
Looking for a Volunteer Opportunity? We’re Looking For Good People.
We need talented, dynamic, dedicated volunteers to help our organization achieve its mission. We need you! We are now seeking volunteer leaders to help us make a difference in our community.
We offer a number of different opportunities – with a whole range of time requirements made to fit busy schedules. We realize that folks lead busy lives and so we take our volunteer program very seriously. We are committed to offering you a rewarding, fun volunteer experience.
Current Opportunities
Travel Workshop Presenter
We have developed two excellent new programs for 2010: Women’s Travel 101 and Green Travel 101. We are looking for people who will enthusiastically present these programs to the public. We have standing engagements at REI, Midwest Mountaineering and other outdoor/travel stores. We need people who are passionate, experienced travelers who can relate to these programs and spin their own stories and experiences into the presentations.
Requirements for Women’s Travel 101:

Women’s Travel 101 requires a woman presenter who has traveled extensively and has a wealth of information to share with other women who have not yet undertaken an international trip. The volunteer must be a comfortable public speaker, knowledgeable about international travel, and able to offer insight to newbie travelers. For more info, see our Programming page.
Time Requirement: 3 hours per presentation (presentation prep; travel to-and-fro + hour presentation) in addition to learning the HI program (2 hours).
Requirements for Green Travel 101

This program is 2/3rds travel information and 1/3rd environmental education. We are looking for someone with strong Green credentials, and equally strong international travel experience. The volunteer must be a comfortable public speaker, knowledgeable about international travel, and able to offer insight to newbie travelers. There is great growth potential for this program. We are looking for the right volunteer to take it under their wing and go for it. For more info, see our Programming page.
Time Requirement: 3 hours per presentation (presentation prep; travel to-and-fro + hour presentation) in addition to learning the HI program (2 hours).

Travelers Circle Presenter
Travelers Circles are fun, fairly informal presentation opportunities for those who have returned from a fantastic voyage abroad and have stories, photos, and souvenirs to share. We are looking for people who can explain the nuts-and-bolts of travel in their particular destination, as well as give (and this is the important part) give cultural insights and advice on respectful, responsible travel. (What does this mean? Go here: responsible-travel.org.)
Travelers Circles are just plain fun. We do them because we love travel, new people and new experiences. Expect a very curious and fun crowd of 25 people or so.
We are now looking for speakers for our 2010 series. For more info, see our Programming page.
Time Requirement: 1 presentation + preparation
