Learn To Travel The World

Educational programming is part of our mission, and an integral part of our organization.

Our Mission: To develop culturally sensitive world citizens through educational programs, promotion of responsible travel, and positive hostelling experiences.

Along with providing the highest quality budget accommodations for travelers and groups, young and old alike, we strive to promote international travel and to teach intercultural awareness and respect. We provide these educational programs on a regular basis (free of charge) because we love to share our passion for travel and to promote responsible travel practices. Join us!

Our Travel Education Programs

Travelers Circles

PatrickDiscover the world each month with this informal, discussion-oriented program. Each month we host a presentation on a specific travel destination, discussing both the nuts and bolts of travel as well as the intricacies of cultural exchange. About half the time is spent hearing from our speaker and the rest in dialog. Ask questions, share stories, provide your travel insights. Bring a friend!

Travelers Circles are free and all are invited. They are held the 3rd Thursday of every month, 7–8:30 pm, at our St. Paul Headquarters: Upstairs meeting room at 622 Selby Ave, St. Paul, MN 55104 | Telephone 651.251.1495 | link to map.

Note: Please park on the street or in the lot (free) just south of the Mississippi Market on Hague Street. Please do not park in the Mississippi Market lot.

Budget Travel + Hostelling USA

HI logoYou don’t have to travel acoss the ocean to discover diverse peoples, breathtaking vistas, interesting travel companions and foreign languages. You can do that right here in the USA. Green Travel 101

SolaWhat does it mean to travel green? How does one tell if an accommodation is really eco-friendly? How can you reduce your carbon footprint as you undertake an international trip? Our Green Travel program was developed by volunteer Elizabeth Sanberg, who writes and maintains Go Green Travel Green, a blog dedicated to green travel issues. Elizabeth created an excellent slide show and resource list for those who wish to learn how to green their travels, regardless of how far they are traveling.

This program was developed to show simple ways travelers can make a difference in the world, save money and reduce their footprint on the earth regardless of where they are traveling.
